Italy is Still in mind!
At the moment, the Spring equinox of 2020, Italy is in lockdown amidst the throes of the world Coronavirus pandemic. We are saddened that the virus is hitting Italy so hard, while we ourselves are trying (likely not very successfully) to mitigate as best we can the same situation here in the US.
This site recounts some of our experiences in Italy, starting in 2007. More recently, in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 we enjoyed walking long-distance pilgrimage routes: The Via Francigena from Switzerland, ending at Rome, and also two routes traversed by St. Francis, parts of the Via di Francesco. Stories and photos from those excursions are coming soon. kc

Hi – this is Keith Chambers. From 2004 to the present (2020) my wife Anne and I have visited Italy frequently, studied Italian, done some long distance walking, and enjoyed experiencing new places, new thinking, new people, and a wonderfully rich place.
This site is a collection of observations and descriptions of some of our adventures, with photos where we can. You’ll also find tips here for enjoying Italy when you visit. Hope you will enjoy our sharing.

Background: I am a cultural anthropologist, as is Anne, both of us now retired. We love exploring Italy, especially lesser known areas. A current project is walking some of Italy’s pilgrimage routes. We stay in pilgrim accommodations when we can and enjoy meeting fellow pilgrims and also those who maintain the accommodations. This is slow discovery, but oh so rewarding…
